I am not sure what I am more inspired by - the fact that information is so easily accessible and available through some nifty prompts or simply because I can connect few dots and claim the future or perhaps because its too tempting not to bet on the inevitable. As they say, the future is here. We just don’t know it. Nevertheless, I shall make an effort to shed some light as we ponder about a future that may very well be straight out of a futuristic movie. The world of finance and tech are at crossroads and the very perception of value exchange is at loggerheads with traditional forms of capitalism
Let's be honest, most people don’t find finance as exciting, its a bit like watching paint dry. But what if I told you that the world of money is going through a fascinating transformation, thanks to the relentless march of technology and new innovations? Suddenly, the once-staid realm of finance is starting to look like a wild, interdimensional party where blockchain nerds rub shoulders with Wall Street tycoons, and everyone's trying to figure out the best way to move money around without involving any physical currency. Ah, talking about physical currency, you would have noted there is a race on displace the most widely treasured physical asset, Gold. Not in terms of market cap ($11trn in gold vs. $1trn for BTC) but in terms of returns in the last 14.4 years
As someone who has spent years straddling the worlds of banking, fintech and cutting-edge tech (from my early days as a military officer to leading digital transformation and product launches), I've had a front-row seat to this collision of industries and concepts. And let me tell you, it's been wild and I hope to continue writing about it.
Here at Bits, bytes and benjamins, I'll be sharing my own lived experiences and musings on the ever-evolving interplay between finance and technology. I plan to delve into the world of decentralised finance (DeFi), where yield farming and liquidity mining are the new buzzwords. I am still learning these buzzwords and together, hopefully we can get to understand them better. We'll explore how emerging technologies like AI and blockchain are disrupting age-old financial models. And we'll even ponder the existential question of whether our future finance overlords will be human bankers or highly sophisticated algorithms.
But don't worry, I'll do my best to keep things light-hearted and accessible, even when we're grappling with complex topics. After all, what's the point of diving into the deep end if you can't have a little fun along the way?
So strap in, and get ready for a journey through the world of bits, bytes, and benjamin’s. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two while being entertained.
